My mother was born in Radauti (Radautz), in the Bukovina region, Romania, in 1934, under the name Ruth Scholder. She is now named Rachel Kaplansky. She has a brother, Hersch, who was born in 1928. He is now named Zvi Ben-Joseph.

Later investigations show that she might have been born by the name of Rica on June 21st, 1934.

Her parents are Joseph Scholder (1900-1941) and Malcia (or Malvina or Malka, Brender, 1904-1941). Joseph was a baker and Malcia was a housewife. Joseph also had a brother named Alter (D. 1941), who was a shoemaker. He also had another brother named Pesach and two sisters named Klara and Sarah.

Her grandparents from her father's side are Beer (Dov, D. 1941) and Anna (Hana, D. 1941) Scholder. Beer was a carter and Anna was a housewife.

Her grandparents from her mother's side are David (D. 1941) and Bella (D. 1940) Brender. David Brender was a merchant his father was Hersch Brender.

On the left is my grandfather, Joseph Scholder, apparently at the age of 17, during WWI. I have no idea who the other two gentlemen are. Any help will be appreciated.
